This page is dedicated to Frank Davenport, our good friend, fellow astronomer and co-founding member of our club, the Downeast Amateur Astronomers. Frank passed away on Monday April 25, 2011. Frank was a very important part of our club family. He and his wife Carol-Ann so generously opened their home to the club back in 1997 with a club house and observatory. We had several meetings there and hosted a number of events with the schools, scouts and the general public. Frank named his observatory "The Star Room" and even had the Starry Room book written by Fred Schaaf to share with the club. Frank touched us all with his humor, kindness and his good ol' downeast hospitality, and he will be missed.
"The hour is getting late. You look to the east and see the Earth is rolling you towards a bold new headland of stars. You are on your way to them. You are walking to the stars. Somehow you seem to know not only you are traveling, but also that you are traveling to what is wonderful".
